If you missed yesterday’s services, you missed our youth leading and preaching the worship service and you missed a great chance to be renewed and revived! (You can still see the service online, here on our website, by clicking the sermons tab)

As I sat with Debbie (it’s been a long time since that was possible) and watched and listened to our youth, my soul was revived. It reminded me of what is right in the world. It renewed my faith and my hope for the future. Then Sunday, from 5:00PM-6:15PM, I visited with our youth at their first gathering since this COVID issue began. They met outside at Benson and White Deer park in 5 different locations. Taking all the precautions (masks when needed, hand sanitizers, and social distancing) there were 10 -12 youth in each group plus adult leaders for all the groups. There were water balloons (yes!!!), push-up popsicles (yes!!!), and discussions about how COVID had affected their walk with God (also yes!!!). I love being with our youth; they refresh my soul and encourage me for the spiritual battles ahead.

Like many of you I am fed up with COVID, riots, and politics. But a moment like yesterday recharges my batteries. So I want to thank our youth, Susan Wright (Holland’s Youth Director), and all the adult volunteers that made yesterday so special from morning to night. This is what the church is supposed to be. Working together to praise God, lifting hearts, loving being together, encouraging and empowering.

The most effective thing Satan has been able to do in 2020 has been to try and shut down the church. To slow its momentum and stop its outreach. Holland’s has come out fighting against that. Starting this Sunday, we will be offering 5 options for worship. On Thursday night we have our Higher Ground Service. Weather and heat permitting, we are meeting outside at Lou & Deb Love’s home at 7:00PM. Or you can contact Jeremy Absher (jeremy@hollandsumc.org) at the church to be added to the Zoom link to watch Higher Ground virtually. Then, on Sunday mornings, we have our Drive-In-Worship Service at 8:30AM and our 10:30AM worship service in the sanctuary (masks required). You can also watch from home at 10:30AM as we are live streaming the service, or you can watch later as the service is also recorded. All of that, plus additional information, can be found here on our website.

We have got to understand that we are in the midst of the greatest spiritual warfare I have seen in my lifetime. If you don’t believe in spiritual warfare, open your eyes. It is all around us today. And each one of us needs the encouraging, the empowering, and the uplifting guidance of God’s Holy Spirit, the teachings of Jesus, and the powerful presence of the Lord to handle these times. So come or tune into church, read you devotionals, zoom into a Sunday School class or a Higher Ground service, refresh your soul and get your spiritual armor on. The youth did that for me yesterday. They were the church yesterday. May we respond and be the church for them this coming Sunday and throughout this battle. Amen & Amen.
